Post subject: Our 1st IVF appointment
We went for our IVF consultation today. Looks like it'll be early November when I start to down reg(the 9th according to my phone app.) as this month is a no-go as we're off on holiday and (again, according to the phone app.) it looks like we'll start stimming on 24th November.

Only managed to cry once in the consulation..lol.

Claire - yes, I know it's not long. Things are moving along nicely now. xx
Nat - Yep, the holiday will be a nice distraction in the middle and hopefully help chill us (well me actually) out beforehand. xx

My calculation of the date was wrong actually - down reg 9th, stim 18th,1st scan 24th is what I should have said. I also calculated(based on blastocyst transfer) that if I start when I think I will and I'm average. I ought to be testing around the 21st December. Could be cheers or tears at Christmas.

^Will be interesting to get there now to see how accurate that is and how "average" it all is in terms of timescales. Smile

Can see meditation playing a big part in my life as so stressed out at the moment & tired trying to absorb info.

Yes, it is really quick - I was advised of a 6 week wait from referral, hospital messed up and didn't refer me, but then once they did I knew my seminar date and first appointment date within a week and they were the next week and the week after so ended up 3 weeks from referral to 1st appointment.
Only reason it's not even sooner is our holiday - nothing to do with the clinic.
Injections probably won't bother me but I know I'll proper panic come egg collection day. We've agreed to sedation and a local anaesthetic(so that's another needle"locally".) Ouch!

I had sedation for my egg collection and dont remember a thing, but the consultant who did the egg collection said I was happily chatting through out and answering his questions Shocked Shocked I find that really disturbing lol that I have no memory of it.

I felt nothing and they collected 29 eggs from me so Im sure you'll be fine, I found the sedation much like an anesthetic and I just drifted off to sleep. You just wake up quicker and more alert.

Thanks KV. Good luck to you too. The other ladies here have actually put my mind at ease a lot - just a lot to get your head round.

We'll be alright. Think lucky, be lucky. x

yeah the consultant kept saying you will be pregnant, you need to be positive and it will work.
It is alot to get your head round and you have to be in the right frame of mind too.

We will both be fine. Have a good holiday, will let you know how we are getting on.
