Post subject: TTC child number 2
Hey, I'm new here and my husband and I are trying to conceive. We have been trying on our own for almost the past two years, but it hasn't worked. We just got married last April and have been together for about 2 1/2 years. I have a 7 year old daughter and he has a boy and a girl that are 14 and 15. We did not realize that it would be so hard for us to conceive. I went to the dr on Monday and she said for us to have sex for the next 10 days every other day and come in 2 weeks for blood work. We've never known sex to be such a chore...being on a time schedule and all. Any info or advise would be helpful. Thanks. By the way, I am 28 and he is 39 next week and he has diabetes...he has to take at least 4 insulin shots a day. Thanks.

My advice would be to seek advice sooner rather than later. Mt husband and I tried to conceive for over a year but had no joy. We referred ourselves for assessment and were told that i had polycystic ovaries (despite regular cycle)and his spem count was a little low so they started us on very non invasive treatment straight away. We might have got pregnant without help but we didn't need IVF just 'a little push' . If ttc is becoming a chore and you are getting more stressed each month i would advise you to go and have a chat with an assisted conception unit, they are very good. Hope this helps and good luck

We were trying for over 18 months and I would just suggest you try to relax about it and stop trying so hard as me and my husband did all the doing it at the right time etc and the one month we only went near each other once! was the month I fell pregnant!!!

i think it is just harder or seems harder for us since my husband is such a severe diabetic....it is hard enough for us as it is without throwing ttc into it and scheduling times for those things....that is what is difficult...for example...i am in my fertile time right now and we have only ttc twice because his diabeties makes such things impossible...it seems more so now because we are actually trying during the right part of the month.....this website is so helpful, i like being able to vent on here and asking other people's advice.

Try not to worry to much as I said before, my husband and I only TTC once the month our 8 month old son was concieved!!!!!

We are trying again now for number 2 and I am watching the timings but I am thinking after 18 months of trying last time that I am not going to worry to much.

I understand about the diabetes as my Dad is one and I know how it effects people and what they can do but try not to get to worked up about it. I am sure it will happen soon enough and then you will have the joy of 9 months of waiting for your baby to arrive!!!!!

Post subject: Bloodwork
I went for bloodwork last monday and now have the results....they said i'm ovulating, but my hormone levels are low and that is probably our problem....i'm so glad to know what is going on now....i feel relieved....they said my husband has to go in for a semen sample and if he is normal then they can put me on clomid.....but if he is not...then they will have to send us to a fertility specialist....i just feel better knowing that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel...i just wonder how i got low hormone levels...i have one child and i was pregnant once before her but i miscarried...she is 7 years old...and i've been on birthcontrol for 10 years....but obviously i wasn't taking it correctly when i got pregnant with her......

Hi just to say I totally understand how you are feeling.........I am also having blood work done to check my hormone levels as I keep spotting for 2 to 5 days before my period so could also have low hormone levels. We have been ttc our 2nd child for 7 months. I'm anxious to see what the results are and if it is havng an effect on my fertility (which I think it is as I just feel like something isn't right). I really ddn't expect to experience this as we conceived our 1st child 3 years ago within month but we were obviously really lucky last time.
I hope it all goes well for you x

my bloodwork came back and my progesterone levels are low, I am not ovulating...my husband had to do a semen sample and he is fine...the dr is supposed to call me back today and start me on clomid and we can do that for 3 months...if that does not work then they said they will have to refer us to an inferetility specialist...which i check with my insurance and they do not cover it...therefore.....i hope the clomid helps or we do not have any other options....infertility treatment is absolutely ridiculous in cost....no way to afford that.....

Oh I am sorry to hear that, the hospitals tell you one thing then another.......

I am sure the clomid will work, I know lots of people who have had it and it has worked forst time and then 2nd time around they havent needed it!!!

My friend had a similar probem and she took one round of cloimd and I hate to say itmiscarried but then went on to have a baby naturally!

I am sure you will be fine, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Stephanie
