Post subject: Clarification on Ovulating.....Im confused!!!
Thanks for all your words of kindness yesterday! I sat thinking last night and after reading a couple of contradictory things on the internet thought I would come on here to ask some advice re calculation of ovulation, so, here goes......
.........I had a period from 18th February to 23rd February, I then had a period from 19th March to around 23rd March. I therefore calculated my ovulation to be between 5th and 10th April......
Ok so as I understood it the period of ovulation was the best time to try to conceive. However, I have now read that the best time is five days before ovulation which would mean that I should have been trying between 1at and 5th April........God I am sooooo confused now and would really appreciate some very basic and easy to understand advice!! Thanks much. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Hi Casstia,Do you now what day you ovulate? im usual quite good at this if you don't now i would have said start trying day 10 then every other day till day 16..so going by your dates i would think you should have started trying on 28th,30th,1st and 3rd..Hope this helps x

Your not the only one i get really confused as to when i ovulate, even using the ovulation test sticks i can't quite work out if you are at your most fertile just b4 or after or when the second line appears.
I have a 27 to 28 day cycle so for what i understand its 14 days b4 your next period.
i came on the 28th March which i quess if im correct i would be ovulating between 12th and 16th, but i could be wrong.

I have always understood it to mean that the 4 days before ovulation, 1 day of ovulation and 1 day post ovulation have been the best for getting pregnant. However as things can influence when you ovulate (stress etc) I have always found the best method was to try every 2 days (if you can manage it!) for the 2 ish weeks after period up until just after ovulation and you cannot really go wrong. I hope this helps.
