My partner and I have been TTC for over a year now, We have recently been to the Clinic and like others I have bood tests, a scan and a HSG X-ray booked. My HSG is in a couple of week and I'm dreading it! can anybody give me a heads up on what kind of discomfort I'll feel if any, I'm really not looking forward to it. Very small price to pay tho i guess and I'm very grateful for all the help from the hospital as I know all couples are not as lucky.
Thanks for any advise.

When my oh had his test he had to get it to the hospital within the hour, I didn't assist him though, I went out to walk the dog!
Had my consultant appointment last night, he just asked about my general health, how long we have been trying, am I regular, any pelvic pain, how often we have sex and that was it really. I have got to go in for a laparosopy so he can check my tubes which means anethetic and an overnight stay, apparently if there are abbrassions in my tubes he can sort them out while I am under, if there is anything more then will have to decide what to do after, if they can do anything. He was really nice and made me feel very much at ease, I am glad I went.

Thought it was about time I got my act together and actually wrote in the forum rather than just reading what everyone puts!
My hubby and I have been ttc for 16mths now and have gone down the doctor route. Have had quite a few blood tests on day 3 and 21 of cycle and some months I seem to ovulate but not all. Not sure why. My oh has done sperm test (he did it at home then took it to hosp quickly!)
Saw specialist at infertility clinic in Feb and I've just had a hycosy scan at the hosp today. It did feel bit uncomfortable, but you can take painkillers an hour before (so I did!) It was fine, they were able to tell me at the time that my tubes and uterus are 'normal' so thats good. Got appt with doc at clinic on 29th apr so he will explain what we have to do next.
I completely understand how you all are feeling every month living in hope that af won't come! Anyway hope some of this helps and makes sense. I realise I have waffled a bit.

Lets hope we all get the help we need and further along to achieving positive results. It's nice to talk to others who are going through the same experiences.
Mcg - I had a laparoscomy about 4 years before I conceived my son to look for endemetriosis but they didn't find anything.....as I am having problems now though I sometimes wonder if they missed something at the time! Anyway my doc mentioned that they may do a laparoscomy again.......I think an utrasound will come first though. Hopefully before any of us get that far we fall pregnant! xx

My husband and I were trying to conceive for a year when we went to the docs who referred us to a Fertility Clinic. Like many of you, the first appointents involved taking history from both of us, and having lots of blood tests (some of which they lost which put us back and few weeks and was very frustrating). Hub did the sperm tests and all was fine (if not a bit embarrassing for him) and my blood tests showed I was ovulating.
We weren't offered an ultrasound. One Friday morning I started my period and was so sick of waiting for the next hospital appointment that I rang the consultant's secretary - and she told me i should have had a letter because my Lap and Dye was booked for the following Tuesday! Didn't give me much time to prepare (or organise time off work) but at least I didn't have too long to worry!
The op itself was fine (obviously i was completely out of it). I was much mored zonked after it than I'd thought and very sore and had to have the rest of the week off work. I didn't have to stay over night at hospital fortunately, even though I fainted on the way out of the hospital as my blood presure was very low!
Were told there were no problems with my tubes etc which was a relief but SO many people told me 'I know so and so who got pregnant AS SOON as they'd had a lap and dye' so when it didn't happend for us it was very disheartening. Fortuantely now, after 15 months of trying, we are expecting, so there is hope for you all!
I wish all of you luck and hope it happens for you soon xx
