Post subject: pregnancy after the pill hi, i'm new to this but i just wanted to know how long it takes roughly to get pregnant after you've been taking the pill. I was on the pill for two years. Since coming off the pill i have had two periods in a row in a two week time frame. Is this normal? I am slightly concerned as previous to me going on the pill i had a termination. Not proud of it but am wondering if it is going to effect me getting pregnant now? Please help

Post subject: Having a termination will not harm your chances of getting pregnant, either medically or morally.
With regards to coming off the pill, it may take a while for your cycle to get back to normal and this will make pin pointing your most fertile period quite hard. (I came off the pill last December, but have been one of the unfortunate ones, and have only two cycles since But I also have friends who came off the pill, and fell pregnant by their next cycle - so anything is possible! Try and stay possitive, and think of all the fun you can have making a baby! Good luck Posted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 10:01 am
Post subject: as carline says, no probs with a termination.
I was on the pill for 16 years before coming off and trying to conceive, and my ovaries just didn't want to play ball. After 14 months of trying I eventually saw a specialist who prescribid Clomid, which kick-started ovulation and I was lucky enough to get pregnant on the first month of Clomid. If you are worried about ovulating - whether and when exactly you are doing it - pop down the chemist and buy some ovulation sticks. That was how I realised I wasn't ovulating at all - which prompted me to go to the doctor and meant referals to specialists happened much faster. Good Luck Posted: Mon Sep 10, 2007 10:10 am
Post subject: Coming off the pill and worry. Hi there,
I'm glad that people are talking about coming off the pill because I have been on Yasmin for 5 and half years. My worry is with the vertigo (dizzy spells) I have, will that affect my chances and harm the baby? If I do conceive in October because the pill I take for the vertigo don't end until the end of that month would it lower my chances of concieving and harm the baby if I do conceive. Also I was thinking of getting an ovulation test - Do you guys think thats a good idea? My cycle goes from the 21 day pill from Wednesday and end on a Tuesday then I do a 7 day break which starts on a Wednesday But I have my Period on the Saturday of that week and finish on a Tuesday night which means I only get 4 days Period. Would that affect my chances of conceiving or is it wise to have a normal period then start trying for a baby? My Doctor advised this but I'm still scared that I won't have a normal period. For my other worries please read the post on Thinking about conceiving by Halfpint (October 07). Thanks tiger_ginge Posted: Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:23 am

i came off the pill in July and since then had 2 normail periods.. It has now been 6 weeks since my last period and there is no sign of it or a positive pregnancy test. it is so frautrating. Is there any chance you could be pregnant at 6 weeks and the test still show negative? Last edited by Clairabella on Wed Oct 03, 2007 10:09 am; edited 1 time in total Posted: Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:56 am
Post subject: there's always a chance, but if you don't have any other symptoms it might just be your body settling down without the pill still.
Do you have any other symptoms? tender breasts, nausea, cramps etc? If so, test again and if it's still negative book in to your GP for a blood test. You never know!! Posted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:09 pm
