Did anyone have any testing after m/c?

Post subject: Did anyone have any testing after m/c? Was just wondering if any of you had any tests after miscarrying? All they did with me was a urine test for infection. I just want to make sure that I have done all i can to prevent it happening agen.

Post subject: Hi hun, i have had absolutely nothing. I had a d&c 2 weeks ago and i thought they might do a post op scan to check all is ok but nothing!
I personally did hpt's to check that my hcg levels decreased and i got my negative last might. So now i just wait for my 1st AF to come since mmc x Posted: Thu Feb 12, 2009 5:49 am
Post subject: H Saffy1984, I think you mean testing after a MC to see what the cause was? I think it is usually something that they only do if you have had about three in a row, such as genetic tests or physical reasons like a weak cervix, that sort of thing. I have had three losses but all very spaced apart and for different reasons so don't qualify for tests as most people would not unless they have had three all close together in a row.

My SIL is just now waiting for test results (16th Feb) as she had 3 mc's in 8 Months. The doctors told her after her 2nd mc that they don't do any tests to see if anything is wrong until you have 3 in succession. I find this very unfair but i suppose mc is a natural thing and in some cases there is no rhyme or reason for it. 
Don't know if this is what you meant?? Other than that test with a hpt to see if you levels are back to normal. I was told I had mc'd over the telephone and I haven't seen any one since!!! TC baby dust and baby glue to all Kim xx Posted: Thu Feb 12, 2009 2:01 pm
Post subject: i have had 3 m/c and am due to see a specialist in march not sure what they will do tho,i had first m/c a few yrs ago second in june and 3rd dec.
When you have a d & c they dont do anything more as they say they get everything when doing the op and there is no need to re scan/follow up. It really makes you feel like another number so to speak as you are practically left to just get on with it.xx Posted: Thu Feb 12, 2009 10:31 pm
Post subject: Yeah, I did mean tests to make sure that nothing is wrong. I know that sometimes it just happens and its one of those things but it does seem really cruel to me that they make you go trough 3 before they do any testing at all. I found it heartbreaking after 1 - i cant imagine wot it would be like to have to endure three!
Someone had written on one of the forums that they had some tests and found they had an infection - BV - that could have caused their miscarriage. It just made me think that after a mc they could perhaps give you simple swab tests??? I tried to get a smear test and swabs but the nurse flatly refused to give me one because im not 25 for 6 months! I think you feel so isolated after mc - they send you off with ur leaflets & ur left with ur feelings & questions. Post subject: I have to agree with you Saffy1984, that I feel totally alone after my mmc and D/C!
The hospital just sent me on my way with some leaflets! I just wish they could give you something like a written report on what tests they had carried out on my baby etc!

Post subject: when i miscarried all i was given was blood tests to check my hormones during the miscarriage there was no after testing or even after care

Post subject: I didn't have any testing (or so i thought) after my mmc and visit to hosptial in Dec. They rang me yesterday to inform me of problems they found with the placenta. They ran these tests 2 weeks after my erpc and just filed my results - I'm so pee'd off!
She said they normally run tests but don't inform you unless there are problems. I'm not so sure what happens though with a natural mc. It's almost like they give you some leaflets and tell you to be on your way, just feel like a number and not an individual with worries and concerns. _________________

but i know how you feel in regards to feeling like just another number!! they wouldnt even give me a scan there and then to see if baby was ok and they new there was a high chance i was miscarrying.... after that they should have given tests to make sure there was no damage or infection especially with how far through the pregnancy i was but i had nothing _________________ <3 We became a couple September 27th 2007 Bubbles went to heaven September 25th 2008 Boo was born December 3rd 2009 (5 weeks early) Zacky was born June 26th 2011 Pip was born October 17th 2012 Our HUGE surprise is due September 13th 2013 <3 Posted: Sat Feb 14, 2009 5:40 pm
Post subject: I didnt have any tests. I was only 5 weeks, and i bled for 7 days, so i did another test at doctors, which was negetive and that was it! No tests or anything! Just sent away and told good luck! x

Post subject: It is really bad how most of us have been treated after m/c. I was actually having a threatened miscarriage but they couldnt get me in for a scan for a whole week by which point I had already realised that the baby had gone by doing the test myself. The NHS just really dont want to know at all. Its especially disgusting what has happened to you n1c. It makes me want to start a petition or something!!! x

Post subject: I had a post m/c scan, 10 days after but have been referred to a specialist even though it was my first m/c, due to the fact it took me so long to conceive, not sure what they are going to do though yet, i am still waiting for my appointment to come through, xxx

Post subject: I didnt have any testing or even leaflets after miscarriage. In fact, I had to take 7 trips and 7 scans before they even decided to tell me what was going on with my body. I knew I was 8 weeks, but they kept telling me I was 4 weeks pregnant because there was no heartbeat. I pretty much knew it was a mc because of that plus i was going through 20 or more Courtney Love sized maxi pads a day and was experiencing contractions. I bled heavily for 3 weeks. That was my second miscarriage and I'm still resentful of the way I was treated.
Here I am, 17 months later, finally conceived again. It took a really long time to fall pregnant after that ordeal. I'm dreading to go back to that hospital to get my 12 week scan. But if they try to pussy foot with me again they'll get a Pele blow off in their ward. _________________
