Did anyone have any testing after m/c?

I hear what your all saying. I fell pregnant last July 08 but found out i lost it at my 12week scan, i had to wait a further two weeks for a second scan to confirm the findings, by which point i bleed loads and had lots of cloats to pass through, and at the second scan the foetal pole had gone but id not fully miscarriged, so had to have a d&c, where i was put in a cubicle all day then told to go home, and they were reluctant to give me a sick note to sign me off for the week. I had no tests done to check it was all gone or to see why it happened, i to feel 3 miscarriages is alot to deal with until you can find out whether anything is wrong.surely its best to catch any problems early. I have now managed to conceive and found out im 6 weeks pregnant a few days ago, im worried sick but am having an early scan to check things out

I suffered a mmc at 6wks 2 days but didnt find out until I insisted on a 9 wks scan because knew things werent right (didnt feel pg, had spotted few times etc) Ive had 3 scans, 2 before medical management of miscarriage and one after. I was asked whether I wanted any test done on the baby and I said if it would help me anyhow. They said it wouldnt give me any answers as to why it happened. I asked what was the point of the tests. The nurse said to make sure I had passed everything. I have also had blood taken and my pregnancy hormone levels checked and they will be checked in another 2 weeks to make sure theyre dropping off. I have been given the all clear to start trying again off one gp and one nurse, but the nurse who scanned me told me to wait at least 3 months. My concerns were dismissed by local community hospital when I attended at 6 wks after spotting and midwife refused me an early scan when I asked her at booking appointment because Id sppotted more at 8 weeks. I received an antenatal appointment letter two days after medical management had taken place and then I received my nhs exemption card through the post too. Arrrggghhh. What happened to communication??? Sorry about rant but I can see from all of our posts that we all have received different treatment, different advice, oddly co-ordinated services and its crazy in this day and age that the NHS cannot seem to get it a bit more consistently right !!! ... and breathe !!!! _________________ [url=http://lilypie.com]   [/url Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:17 pm
Post subject: I think all of us are saying pretty much the same thing - that we dont want to be ignored and fobbed off by the medical world. We know our bodies, if we think there is something wrong then we should be entitled to a scan asap - I dont care how far along you are in pregnancy terms. After suffering a mc, we want a sympathetic ear and most importantly a little reasurance that we are healthy enough to start trying agen by basic testing. I also think that 2 miscarriages warrent full testing - not 3. Who came up with testing after 3 miscarriages - a man??? Obviously someone who hasnt spent agonising days losing their baby!

Post subject: Im currently experiencing my 3rd loss in 6mths, 2 mmc's (both at 12wk scan) and a very early normal mc all since september.
We found out on Tues just gone at our 12wk scan that baby had died a few weeks previous, i also had an early scan at 7.5wks and everything was fine then, the following week something happened. Ive opted for a d&c tomorrow due to complications with the last mmc, plus i have no signs of bleeding or cramping yet and that could take along time to happen. Ive got a two yr old to think of as well and i cant be sat around all day waiting for it to happen, plus i just want it over and done with now. The hospital phoned yesterday to talk about testing us, our first appointment is 3rd of march but thats just to talk about what tests are available to us. It sounds silly but i kinda want them to find something wrong, hopefully then it can be sorted if there is an issue and we've not just had [*@!#%*] luck! Posted: Thu Feb 19, 2009 7:10 pm
Post subject: hi fattylamb,im so sorry to hear about your loss.
i also have had 3 m/c the last 1 being the beginning of jan,i was devastated as i was 11/12 weeks when i found out id lost the baby,you kind of start to relax at this pointi started bleeding naturally but still ended up having a d & c due to complications.I also have an appointment with a specialist on the 3rd of march.not sure what to expect tho. Will be thinking of you hope all goes well,take care of yourself hunny xx
