Post subject: Baby Sleeping position - Husband's obsession My husband is concerned that our 1 month old daughter tends to sleep on her back with her face facing the left side all the time. He is afraid that will cause her skull to be flattened on the left side. Because of that, he constantly adjusting her head when she is asleep. What is worst, he wants me to do that too.
I don't think it is a problem as my 1 month old's head is symmetrical. However, I don't have anything (e.g. medical proof) to back me up. I felt we should not adjust the baby position when she is asleep. I love to hear your opition on this topic. My husband is driving me crazy. Posted: Sun Aug 26, 2007 11:30 pm
Post subject: Hi,
We had a friend who's son did the same thing and he did end up with a "flat spot" but I don't think it's too much to be concerned about. He is now 2.5 with a normal shaped head. I think it only stayed for 6 months or so anyway. I think you should point out to your husband that it's better for the baby to sleep on her back then her belly as there is a risk of SIDS.
