Post subject: Detecting an LH Surge Hi
I'm 38 years old and have been TTC for 4 months. My cycle is anywhere between 29 and 31 days. I've been using clearblue ovulation kits and I have been ovulating on day 17 every month except this month, I'm now on day 19 and nothing. So my advice to you is to keep testing you maybe ovulating later than you think. Good Luck with TTC. Posted: Mon Sep 17, 2007 10:34 am
Post subject: yep - keep testing
BUT - if you have tested religiously for 3-4 months with no surge detected, it is possible you aren't ovulating. My own experience was that after so many years on the pill (ttc #1 at age 34 after 17 years on the pill) my ovaries simply didn't kick start properly - the Doc thought due to my very short cycles (21-24 day complete cycles are my norm) hence I never had a 'normal' period after coming off the pill. My advice would be to give it a bit of time - it can easily take a few months for your body to settle in - and if you still have no pink lines make an appointment to see your doctor. Mine was very sympathetic and arranged for the basic tests to be done fairly early on really, meaning it was only just over a year before we saw a specialist (apparrently normal practice is that you should be ttc naturally for 2 years before any referral - which is likely to be another 6 months for an appointment). Test-wise, they are all basically the same, although if you're worried you may have a problem with the ones you're using - switch brand. Superdrug own brand were the ones I used. Post subject: Hi Amanda
try not to get down - I know how hard it can be Possibly you ovulated early and missed it? Also don't forget it isn't that unusual for a woman to miss ovulation on some months (my sister in law apparently has a 2 out of 3 ovulation cycle - very random!). Keep testing for at least 3 months and if you've had no indication that you are ovulating, go see your GP with your concerns would be my advice - the earlier you can get a referral to your local fertility clinic the better really if there is a chance of any problem. Hope things improve - and keep smiling Anna
