Post subject: Cow's milk!
My little girl is very nearly a year old and we're currently working on changing her over to cow's milk rather than formula. At the moment she still has 3 bottles a day (although only 4-5 oz out of each one), and I've switched the afternoon one to cow's milk which she's been fine with so far. My plan is to gradually change her other 2 bottles to cow's milk over the next couple of weeks. The problem is we're often out and about in the afternoon when this bottle's due, and where I would normally take a carton of formula milk to give her on the go, obviously I can't do this with cow's milk. Does anyone have any tips for feeding them cow's milk when you're out? We're going on holiday fairly soon so even more reason to be giving her a bottle out and about!
I'm considering dropping her afternoon bottle to avoid this problem but as she only has 4 or 5 oz in her others I'm worried she wouldn't be getting enough.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

hiya hun

by 1 year oliver was only having 1 bottle a day in the evening before bed.

if little one is having 3 good meals a day. cheese as a snack, 1 yoguart a day and some fruit etc she does not need 3 bottles a day.

oliver had:

7am - full beaker of whole milk
7.30/8am - breakfast
10am - snack
12pm - lunch
2.45 ish - snack
4.45/5pm - dinner
7pm - 8oz bottle before bed

he is 15 months now and routine still the same.

hope this helps x

Hi Im2008 and thanks for that- I'm going to try her with a new routine and see how she gets on. Missing out the afternoon bottle will be better for us all round, as I'm hoping she'll take a bit more milk at the other times without it.
I have an older daughter too but she dropped the 3rd bottle at 9 months so it was never an issue! They can all be so different.
Anyway thanks again and take care x x

If you do miss out the afternoon bottle, dont forget to offer plenty of water, she will take what she needs Smile

My daughter will be turning 1 in about 5 weeks. Is it too early to start weaning her off the formula onto cows milk? We want to do it slowly so hopefully it wont upset her stomach too much etc.

To be honest I didn't know there was a risk of upset stomach, most I know waited til month 12 or the end of a formula tin close to that time and switched directly over, maybe check with hv Smile
