Post subject: tax credit/working tax
Hi.
im 26+4 with our first baby.
looking into whether we will be able to claim tax credits.

On the HMRC site, there is a questionnaire to see what u may be entitled to, but i dont understand if i need to put in the hours im working now, or will be, and if i can can claim once ive had the baby or need to wait until i go back to work, paying child care, less hours and pay???

any help would be great for a very dippy mum to be at the moment!!!

xx

You put the hours you do atm as even though you'll go on maternity they still class you as working those hours. And its all based on your last tax yrs earnings anyway.

How old are you? Not be rude but if you're under 25 you're not entitled to working tax credit till you have a baby so not worth doing the form now. If over 25 i would do the working tax credit form now. Then you'll need to do the child tax bit after you've had the baby.

I would call them up as everytime i've called they have been so helpful.
