kic - hope you are feeling better now.
i have had quite a good day today after a really bad evening yesterday. i was in tears all evening as liam would not settle at all, just screamed but then had a good night and has been a little star today. still persevering with the bf but am really finding it a struggle. got the bf woman back tomorrow so hoping that she helps me a bit more.
going for my nap now while DH takes over baby duty for an hour xx _________________

Thanks Pinky, we had a better night last night. Changing the teats worked & tho he still had bad wind I managed to get him down & get 6 hours!!
Hospital didnt seem very supportive of anyone when I was in whether bf or not.
No visitors today & its been great. I'm still quite weepy so couldnt face seeing anyone & we both managed to sleep when Ben did so feel better.
Cant believe this time last week I was moaning that I wanted it over & here I am now!! _________________

I've felt in a bit of a trance ever since Ava was born think it must be the lack of sleep. I'm so dreading hubby going back to work next week because hes been such a great support.
Poor Ava has got an eye infection so first visit to GP in the morning.
Took her into work today and it was really strange, made me feel weepy as I dont want to go back, dont know why I'm thinking about that already though.
Have a good nights sleep everyone (fingers crossed) _________________

sorry for the moan, just really getting to me now.

My MW told me that if your baby sleeps while feeding strip them down to their vest so they are cooler and stay awake _________________

brownie hope little one is feeding better.
I have the opposite problem with Ava who wont stop and keeps being sick becase shes had too much. Fed her 8 times between midnight and 6.30am and had to change her and her bedding 3 times because shes been so sick. Its exhausting but shes worth it.

he feeds every couple of hours and sleeps inbetween in the day but at night its just a joke, we love him so much but the matchstix in our eyes are starting to snap, lol

i had the breastfeeding woman come today and she tried for about an hour to get him to feed without succes so she has told me to express and feed him with bottle. got to keep trying but without stressing out, plenty of skin to skin contact and is referring me to a specialist on tues to see if she has any ideas!!! he is quite happy taking the expressed out the bottle though so i feel better for it. he is sleeping really well as well, touching lots of wood

pleased things are getting better brownie, i wish I had a breastfeeding support worker. Midwife hasnt been for nearly a week and no visit from the health visitor yet.
been researching and it seems that ava is a 'snacker' hence the frequency of the feeds!
I'm getting worried though as I'm losing so much weight and have no appetite at all, she does seem to be putting on weight but as no-one has been to see me its all guess work. _________________

Glad things are improving brownie.
Pinky - I know i'm not long home but midwife has been great. Think it might be down the fact that i'm still quite teary tho. I've also lost my appetite. Sometimes I forget to eat & other times I just dont want to!
Ben on the other hand is a wee grubber! We've increased his formula already! _________________

pinky - if you are getting concerned give mw a call, am surprised noone has been for a week. my mw isnt coming again for a week but i have health visitor and bf support in between so i am getting to see quite a lot of people, they said as it is first baby they offer as much support as i need so would have thought you would have the same. xx
today is the first day that i feel really good, hoping the tears have calmed down now, dont think i have many more left. Liam is enjoying the bottles, even though i am still having to wake him up, lazy boy. and is starting to poo again which is good i suppose apart from it went all over him!!! oh well i cant complain!!!

hey girls yeh hun james was very constipated at first and now only seems to go once a day.
how much are your lil ones taking formaula wise? james is having around 2-4.5oz depending on time of day from 9pm til 7am he managed in total 11.5oz, in an average day he is drinking around 20oz ish, not sure if its enough or not.

Hi ladies, and babies Very impressed when I weighed myself yesterday....only 3lbs heavier than pre pregnancy weight!!! Which means since having JJ i've lost 2 stone! And i've still got a bit of a belly so once thats gone hopefully I will have actually lost weight overall
Brownie, JJ was lazy with bf at 1st but we've managed to get him into a routine over the last week. When he starts to stir we strip him off and change nappy (which he hates btw!) then he's nice and awake so get him latched on while still just wearing nappy which helps loads, and if he still falls asleep then I either rub his chheks, blow on face or tickle toes and that normally gets him sucking again, also start as if i'm puling him off the breast and he soon sucks it back in lol holding him in rugby hold is good too coz not as much of a cuddle so less likely to fall asleep.
He's doing really well now, not having to strip him now to keep him awake and he seems to be taking loads, he's in a 4hr cycle now so 7, 11 & 3 which means just one wake during the night! Although he seems to think my right boob is for chomping on so he's having milk direct from left one and via expressing and bottle from right, started using a nipple shield which helps but still clamps down on nipple every now and again so prefer to express from that side.
Carmel, I assume there's more calories in formula than breastmilk but when i'm expressing, JJ is drinking 4fl oz per feed, occasionally 4.5, but like I say, not sure if this is comparable to formula fed babies coz of the calories and breast milk is easier digested. _________________

Hi Ladies,
Thought I would join you!
Zac is the same re feeding he won't feed for very long and seems to latch on have a few decent sucks and then either stop or fall asleep! even when I blow on his face or tickle his feet he only does a couple more mouthfuls and then stops!
Am so fed up with visitors too. All my friends are polite and say oh we'll wait until you've settled down but oh's family are a nightmare. He's had 2 wks paternity and his parents have been here every day bar 2 of those days! He's going back to work tomorrow but hes asked them to come and help on mon tues and wed as I had c section and he doesnt want me doing any lifting etc but tbh they are more of a hindrance than a help. They were here the night I came back from hospital as well which was sprung upon me.
Just what you need when you're all emotional! Anyway, Inlaw rant over now!
I must write up my birth story, haven't done it yet.
