I'm really lucky because my husband bought our house with his inheritance about 8 years ago. We have a lovely 4 bed house with a garden and double garage in a really nice area. Years ago when i split up with my ex and we sold the house i kept my share in the bank for a deposit, but now we've spent that having a new kitchen, bathrooms, conservatory etc.

I love my home and know how lucky i am, there's no way we could afford anything like this if we were looking now x

No, we own our home Very Happy

Hubby earns about 19K so that covers our bills, food etc. It will still be a struggle but it does mean that i won't have to go back to work for a while. If we had a mortgage to pay as well then then i'd have to. I'm really grateful for the situation we're in.

We've sat down and worked out our money properly and after bills etc are all paid we'll have exactly 1 left over ha ha!!! Since finding out i was pregnant we've saved everything i earn in a seperate account for the baby. So we've managed on one salary for quite a while and have savings for baby stuff. My dad has said he'd look after baby for us for one or two days a week if i do need to go back to work Very Happy

We pay just under 800 mortgage for a three bed bungalow in North Herts. Although a fair bit we do live in a nice village with great size garden.

We pay 650 a month for a big 3 bed detached cottage just outside a small village five minutes outside of Exeter with an absolutely huge front and back garden which backs on to a local national trust owned forest so is lovely. Some of of our friend's mortgages are ridiculously high as property down here is mega expensive so we are quite lucky that ours is not too bad.
