Post subject: Taking baby to spain-need travel advice!! Hi guys
Im off to spain on thur!! But need a bit of advice - we were going to hire a car but price went up and can no longer afford as going with my brother his girlfriend and lil girl. we now plan to travel by train and bus. But if for some reason we need to travel by taxi does anyone know if we can hold baby on knee in back? I know this is far from ideal but as I say we dont plan to use them but worried if something happened and we had to we wont have car seats! Any info on this would be great - thanks! xxx _________________

Post subject: I'm going to tenerife and have asked the same question. You can in Tenerife but I'm terrified of something happening. We can't take a car seat with us so as MIL is going out the week before us she's going to make some enquires as to hiring a cab with a seat. Otherwise I will just be bricking it

Post subject: Spain...well chances are the driver won't give a toss, they are allowed to carry a baby on the parents lap so they think that's fine (just like here I suppose!) , you won't get a baby seat provided.
Personally I would never travel without one - depending on the age of your baby; is taking a pushchair / car seat system an option? Izzy will be 16 months when I next travel to France and I am taking her in the infant carrier that fit up to 15kg (my mum has already taken over a full size seat for travel once we get there- this is just for the hire car from the airport ) Posted: Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:29 pm
Post subject: If hiring a car would defo be taking it - but we plan to travel by public transport if we
cant hire a car so am only taking her light buggy - shes 5 months, I dont trust airline with my expensive travel system which doesnt all fit together so to take pram bit we would have to carry pram seat or vice versa far too much luggage for us to handle especially with baby. I really dont plan on using them it was just in case ofunforseen emergencies!!! xx _________________

Post subject: I normally wouldnt consider it but as Ive said I dont actually plan on using taxi its just if the bus / train were late or didnt turn up to get us to airport on way back - will be looking into private taxi over there that might provide car seat but cant get in touch with the person wil we are there!!
I realise this but this would mean carrying it on bus train etc and there is no way that me and my husband could carry our luggage (suitcase, holdall and small case) along with chloe and her pushchair on and off a bus with a car seat - its going to a challenge as is!!! x _________________
