Post subject: AskBaby on Sky News!!
Hi everyone,

I'm going to be interviewed on Sky news this evening giving AskBaby's opinion on the way that baby names have changed over the years.

So I was hoping that you'd be able to share your thoughts on this so I can really represent your opinions.

If you could let me know why you chose the names that you did for your little ones, whether you intentionally went for older or more modern names and what made you decide on the name that you did (i.e. family names, celebrity names etc) that would be great!

Han x

omg thats right good!
what time will you b on?
We chose Sean as our babys first name because we like the name and its irish connections, and we chose Robert as his middle name as my OH's name is Robert and his dad's middle name is Robert so we're keepin it in the family.
We wanted a more traditional name for our baby rather than a modern name - besides not much goes with OH's surname lol!

ooh han what time will it be, I will tune in!!!

I chose Mollie and Emily for my girls as they are old names but dont really know why. I think with Mollie it was around the time that the film Ghost was out and Demi Moores part was called Mollie. With this one I will prob choose an older name too as a modern name wont go with the girls names.

Good luck tonight Hannah!! Laughing

I also like old fashioned names - James, Sarah etc... They are solid sounding. I don't understand the trend of calling your kid after a state (Dakota) or after a fruit (Apple, Pear).... Give them a name that they can be proud of.

Hi Han,

That's so cool I will tune in too!!!

We chose Lewis cos it's Scottish and not too different/new age modern but not too common and his middle name is Benjamin after his uncle and my great grandad. We wanted his middle name to have something to do with the family. Good luck for later!!! xxxxx

Hi Han, I'll make sure I'm watching!!. We've chosen Libby for our little girl, we read it somewhere about 2 years ago when we started ttc and we loved it so it stuck in our heads.

Good luck with your interview!!!

Susan xx.

ooo I'll be watching Very Happy

we chose Isaac because of the meaning - he will laugh. we hoped it would mean he'd be happy - and also in part after Isaac Hayes (chef on South Park Laughing who died recently). His middle names are John because its DH's family 1st son middle name, Henry after DH's grandad who died when I was pregnant.

I'm not keen on trendy fly-by-night names to be honest. They are fine I suppose if you're a Hollywood superstar, and your kid's gonna be weird and privelidged anyway, but not for a nice English boy! If we do have a little girl at some point I think she will be called Clara Emily Eva - no family connections, its the meanings again that draw me Very Happy

good luck, don't get TOO drunk in the green room before you go on Wink

Hi, we decided on the name Amelia, but changed the A to an (Emelia). However, we mostly call her Millie. My great grandmother (who I only know from family history reasearch) was an Amelia, so thought it was a pretty name.

Her middle name is Guinevere, which is a Welsh name for Jennifer (my name) and can also mean 'white wave' thought this was appropriate as
we are Welsh, my names Jennifer and she was conceived near the sea!
And of course she is our lil princess 'Guinevere'. Oh i suppose the start of the name Guin... is the same as my favourite drink ....Guiness! lol

Goodluck Hannah, you'll have to let us know what time you'll be on!
